I just read an article that says January 17 was the day most people give up on New Year’s resolutions. It’s so prevalent that January 17 has been negatively coined Ditch Your Resolution Day. How is that for demotivation? The struggle is real!

If you made it past January 17, good for you! Those of us who are self-employed have to go against this negative current and prevent it from entering into our internal dialogue. It’s important that we move from just the good intentions of a resolution (or dream) to intentionally directing the course of our business goals.

To help you stay the course while others are throwing in the towel, it’s imperative to check in with yourself now that we’ve gotten past the ominous “ditch day.” One of the best ways to self-reflect and recalibrate is by writing down your goals, dreams, and resolutions, and reviewing them from time to time. I truly believe written plans hold you accountable to your dreams—PERIOD.

Have you held yourself accountable for your 2020 business goals yet? Check out my Annual Business Check-Up (a.k.a. The ABCs of Intentional Agents) for a complimentary plan that you can print or email to yourself once you finish answering the questions.

Let’s Win the Year

If you’ve ever Googled “real estate agent business plan,” then you know there aren’t many results (even in the year 2020) that can help you reflect on both where your business is currently and where you want it to go, while also helping you along on your intentional journey. My complimentary Annual Business Check-Up will help you go from having good intentions to intentionally thinking through your real estate sales business plan for the year.

Each soul-searching section includes detailed discovery questions specific to real estate sales based on my doctoral research on the strategies of the top 1,000 U.S. real estate sales agents—no fluff here. We take into account:

  • Your dreams
  • Your market
  • Your numbers (much of this section is automated, hooray!)
  • Your habits
  • Your systems
  • Your team (including advisors/mentors)

With your honest answers typed into each response field, you can then print out the webpage to make it your very own business plan. Put in on your desk or pin it to your wall so that it serves as a visual reminder of your intentions for this year. Be sure to block off at least 20 minutes to answer the questions thoughtfully. Rome wasn’t built in a day, so let’s give your business at least 20 uninterrupted minutes. Follow this link and scroll down to begin the Annual Business Check-Up.

  2. Excellent blog post! I think that reevaluating your business is one of the most over looked task done by both agents and business owners alike. I recently re-evaluated our business plan to make sure we were on target to hit our goals for 2020!

Just as the market and your goals change, so should your business plan and approach!
